We are Smith.
Smith is an independent collective of radicals and misfits who've chosen to spend their lives together because it's more fun that way. Our name is intended to keep us anonymous and up to making things: we're not here to stand out or to win awards. We're committed to being common and to let our work speak for itself.
The work that we do is on ourselves: whatever we end up putting into the world is simply a byproduct of that work. You see, we didn't have any grand intentions when we started down this hospitality road, we just wanted a good place to have a beer and a burger after work. It was that simple. And it's the simplest ideas that have the greatest power.

Asbury Park, NJ
- Porta: Opened in 2011, serving some of the best pizza in the country and one of the premier nightlife venues on the Jersey Shore.
- Pascal & Sabine: Honors the simple delights of the European brasserie, where good food, warm drink, and friends (old & new) come together to create a rich sensory experience of unbridled exuberance.
- Homesick: Our from scratch kitchen where modern elegance meets comfortable charm. An escape from the day to day where live jazz often fills the air.
- Lovesick: A quirky little bar for wine enthusiasts and casual sippers alike. Our carefully curated list features an extensive array of options from around the world.
Jersey City, NJ
- Porta: Located in the center of Downtown Jersey City, three floors including a block long rooftop offer incredible dining paired with unbeatable nightlife options.
Montclair, NJ
- Porta: Right in the heart of Montclair's shopping zone, perfect pizzas and fresh pastas are served on two floors, with a beautfiul outdoor garden off the second level.
Our Philosophy
We ask that you show up with integrity: honor your agreements, and your word. Be on time. Keep your workspace clean. Communicate. Be authentic. Be professional–the best version of yourself but be yourself. If you have something going on that is affecting your performance, ask a teammate or a manager to lend an ear, so you can go forward unencumbered. (We call this emptying the glass, but you’ll learn more about that later).

Head Chef/Kitchen Manager
Porta Montclair
We are looking for an experienced, creative, and passionate head chef to join our team. As head chef, you will run the back-of-house. You will manage the daily operations of the kitchen, oversee the kitchen staff to ensure that the highest quality of cuisine is served to our guests, and ensure that all food and labor cost goals are met.

Seeking a dedicated professional responsible for overseeing and enhancing the overall customer experience. Their primary purpose is to ensure that every touchpoint along the customer journey is optimized to meet or exceed expectations, leading to guest satisfaction and a strong regular clientele.
